Job Description

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Plumbing Designer to join a growing construction team in San Antonio. This role is responsible for the design and drafting of plumbing systems including sanitary, storm drainage, domestic water, and gas systems for commercial and multifamily projects. You’ll play a key role in producing high-quality, coordinated construction documents while collaborating closely with other engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and draft complete plumbing systems for assigned projects (sanitary, storm, domestic water, and gas).
• Produce accurate and code-compliant construction documentation for permitting and construction.
• Develop plumbing layouts, riser diagrams, and fixture schedules consistent with project scope and specifications.
• Perform engineering calculations, sizing, and equipment selection to ensure system performance and efficiency.
• Participate in BIM coordination meetings and resolve design conflicts across mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, and architectural disciplines.
• Conduct design research and evaluate system options based on performance, cost, and constructability.
• Support the project team through design, documentation, and post-design consultation phases.
• Contribute to process improvement efforts by developing replicable design and calculation methods.
• Maintain clear communication and positive client relationships while representing the company professionally.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (required).
• 3–5 years of plumbing design experience within the MEP engineering industry .
• Strong understanding of the construction process and ability to interpret design and construction drawings.
• Familiarity with BIM coordination workflows and interdisciplinary design collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to design, layout, and document plumbing systems accurately.
• Knowledge of plumbing codes, standards, and engineering drafting practices .
• Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working independently or in a team setting.
• Experience with commercial plumbing design in multifamily or mixed-use developments .
