Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated R&D Laboratory Technician —ideally with background in the automotive chemical, fuel, or lubricant industry —to join our growing team.

This role is key to quality control , product testing , and new formulation development , supporting the next generation of Petra’s innovative products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control testing and provide operational support for product filling and production activities.
  • Assist in the development and modification of formulations , working with internal and external partners.
  • Support the Quality Systems through documentation, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical support for products and services to customers and distributors.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Work with Product Safety and Compliance partners to develop and maintain SDS documentation.
  • Depending on experience, may also:
  • Conduct technical training and on-vehicle demonstrations for staff and distributors.
  • Support R&D projects and new product initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant laboratory experience , preferably in formulation or quality control .
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with analytical chemistry techniques (GC, GC/MS, FTIR, AES).
  • Familiarity with ASTM laboratory procedures (e.g., D2 and D15).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office ; experience with LIMS or analytical software a plus.

Additional Notes

  • Membership in industry organizations (ASTM, STLE, NLGI, SAE) is encouraged and supported.
  • Continuing education and certifications (e.g., STLE CLS) are also supported for qualified candidates.
